Pete Carroll is apparently "interested" in the Atlanta Falcons head coaching vacancy.
I've always suspected him of being an idiot in spite of USC's recent success, but if he takes this job, idiot won't quite cover it. I can understand him wanting to tackle the challenge of returning to the NFL, but the Falcons job is career suicide. The defense sucks, the offense sucks, and the one legitimate young piece that they have is a total head case.
Whomever takes this job is going to get fired within two years. Mark it down. Quick turnarounds are common place in the NFL these days, but Atlanta is TWO solid off seasons away from once again competing for a playoff spot. If the next regime drafts well this might be a good job 24 months from now, but if you are Pete Carroll and your phone rings every time an NFL job opens up, why on Earth would you want to get involved with the Falcons??
